I came across a pair of 2001 Polaris Sportsman 400’s. One has 250 miles and the other about 500. I bought a standard bore wiseco piston for it (83.00mm) But I think I ordered the wrong one. Measuring the diameter of the cylinder it reads 83.8mm on top and bottom of bore, and that's before honing. I measured the piston that came out of the motor, it is heavily scored beat, so measurements might be off. But it measured 83.4 at top and bottom. So I have a second hand polaris sportsman 400 from 2003 that is having reverse problems as in the reverse override button does not work correctly. I believe that the previous owner tried to bypass the reverse override and failed at doing so as now when the quad is in reverse and I push the throttle it sputter and does not have enough power, it does the same when the override button is pushed. Any ideas?
